AFI (The Blood Album)

I love AFI and everything they do, so I'm mostly bias, but this new album is so good. I have to say Burials was not their best and they totally redeemed themselves! This album reminds me of their b-sides and I love their b-sides. Each song has a sound that you can connect to an earlier album. I admit I really like "old AFI" so "White Offerings" is one of my favorites, but I've liked everything else they've come out with too.

I could listen to the bridge of this song over and over. The breakdown and how he ends it with a idk grunt? is amazing.

A lot of the songs have that AFI chorus where you just want to sing along. "Dumb Kids" has a great chorus for a live audience to join in with.

My New Favorite Band Obsession!!!

I saw Blaqk Audio on their Material Tour (and I met them oh yeah be jealous) and their opening band was amazing. I'm usually not into opener bands and I wish I had checked them out before I saw them because I am now obsessed. The singer has beautiful hair and facial bone structure which reminds me of my love for long haired Davey, so obviously new obsession. Oh and their music's pretty great too.
Now get ready for the plethora of videos!!
It's Night Riots, guess I should have mentioned that.

Long hair! Not Davey Havok Sing the Sorrow hair, but longer than what he had and it makes a huge difference. Also there are repeat songs, but different videos to give a different experience.

The Sounds

I've really been into The Sounds lately. Maybe it's my already undying love for Metric that has attracted me to them.

Discover Weekly

I don't know how long Spotify has been doing this, but I just found it last week and it's amazing. They make a playlist called Discover Weekly and they update it every Monday. It's a playlist full of recommendations on the music that you already listen to. This first playlist was spot-on, all of the songs went well together, so here it is.

But the one I got this Monday, I don't think is as good. There are some good songs, like how they rewarded me with AFI, but this playlist doesn't flow well. All well playlists aren't always perfect. I still think it's pretty cool. I am discovering songs and artists I have never heard of and am now anxiously waiting for Mondays (Really, who says that?!).

I saw Architects and Every Time I Die, but never put any of this up. I saw them in November '14.

Shows!

Aww I missed this blog. I just felt like I had to tell everyone that I saw a guilty pleasure last night. Does it make them a guilty pleasure if I'm "screamin from the top of the world" (hahaha) that I saw them last night and was totally into it? All well..

If you haven't already guessed or you know clicked on the link above, I saw Tokio Hotel.

BOOM!

It was amazing, alright?! There were foamy bubbles at the end. He made like four wardrobe changes which was all amazing in itself because he was wearing some elaborate clothes and he changed really fast.
They are more electronic with their music now and some of the older songs didn't sound exactly right because of all the bass. That's one thing that I wished was different. There are bands that I just wish I could have seen earlier in their career because usually when they go on tour they play most of their new songs. This was one of them. Really, I'm just glad I saw them. I didn't think I'd ever see them.

So I took a video, but it got lost on my phone. I found this on youtube, which is from the same night I was there. If you go to this person's page, they have like four more videos from that night. Plus other nights, it looks like they followed them on tour.

Pop Punk to Folk Rock?

From Good Charlotte to their side project, the music sounds different, but they still look like they belong in the rock band.
I like it. It's not "The Anthem", but it's got a cool sound to it. They were definitely exploring another musical side of themselves.

Throwback Thursday

Well not really for me. I wasn't even born when this song came out. I've just heard a lot lately and its been in my head. Also I had just found out the artist a few weeks ago, Deep Purple, who also did smoke on the water, which I also thought was the only hit they had.

Crossfaith

Have you seen these guys, Crossfaith?  They look like they could be in K Pop, with their trendy hair

but they're not that bad. I was a bit surprised. They were also grouped in with Chvrches, which threw me off as well.

Shows!

I saw Christina Perri and she is so adorable. Seriously the first concert I've ever been to where the artist actually talked to us. There have been a few where they just make little comments and then keep rocking, but she would make witty comments and tell a few stories that just made the whole experience more fun. She made fun of herself; at one point started making that unce-unce sound and then apologized. It was like she was just as excited as us to be there. She can also dance. And her voice is amazing. This was way different from any other show I've been to, you could actually hear people talking and my camera ACTUALLY picked up her voice and you can hear every word and don't have to guess the song through all the static. And when the show was over I didn't feel like I was going deaf, I could hear!
Another first time ever, I've never seen a proposal on stage before. Apparently that's the thing to do at a Christina Perri concert because later I found out that that had been the third one this tour.
I still love all of my moshing shows, but it's nice to have a fun show like this once in a while, where all I have to do is stand there and watch and maybe bust out my singing chops. Especially when she separates the audience into groups and gives us different words to sing and it all becomes one big round.

I felt the love Christina Perri, I felt it!

After the proposal she serenaded them with "A Thousand Years". They're sitting behind the piano.

MCR Greatest Hits

Aw I love this video, so cool. I probably won't get this CD since I already have all of the songs that will be on it. I just don't really see the point of buying something that you already have. Like a turtle we already had one, but I decided to come home with another. All they do is ignore each other and smell. Oh I kid, I like you Jack....sometimes.

If you do not have all of their CDs then go out and buy this! I dare ya. It'll probably blow your mind.
If there's only one or two songs you don't own, it's pretty easy to hit up itunes or whatever nefarious methods you use.

Also "Fake Your Death" as the final song? Genius.

Punk Rock Girl

Original:

Covers:

Streetlight Manifesto

MxPx

I think I like the Streetlight cover the best. Their cover was actually the first time I'd heard this song and I love the addition of ska to the song.

Youtube Buddies? Shares? Bands on Youtube? That have shared videos...

Anyone else get random people sharing their bands' videos with you? Well surprisingly some of them aren't that bad if you give them a chance.

Here are a few that have shared:
Note: Some of these are quite old and I'm just getting around to it.

Walkways - "Sweet Medicine"
The more I listen the more I'm starting to like it. They sound a little like Korn especially at 3:00.
But there is also something else that can put 'em smack dab in the middle of alt rock. I think they can make it to higher places. Bigger places? Higher levels. One of those.

Sinking Memories - "Shout For Anger"
I'm actually not sure who sent me this, whether it was the band or just a fan trying to get them heard.
Not bad though, they can definitely do their death growl. I do love a switch up going from growl to just plain old yell.

Shake Well Before - "Insomnia"
These guys are pretty cool. I saw a show with a bunch of death metal bands and Suicide Silence had closed it up, before Mitch's passing, and these guys would have probably fit right in. Wicked solo by the way.

If I Die Today "Poison"
They're alright, not my favorite out of this bunch, but better than other things I've received. They sound like they'd be a great pop punk band if they lightened it up and took away the screaming.

Hideous Miscreation - "Woven in Fragments of Putrid Disgust"
These guys were one of the first bands I got a video from and actually listened to. I don't know if they still have it,but I got a free download of ,I think it was, a whole EP. They're not everyone's cup of tea, but I think they're fun.

I also received a hip hop video and it made me laugh. I didn't watch it, just that I got it made me laugh. Lots of these bands are like "Oh I see you like so and so. We're kind of like them," and then ... hip hop. Haha we're gonna send this video to everyone and they're gonna LIKE IT!
